My team designed, documented and developed a brand new design system for BigID, bringing the security, privacy and data governance product catalogue onto one coherent and consistent SaaS platform experience.
Motivation
As BigID was becoming a single platform with multiple products that share common workflows and services, there was a need to create consistent user experience and design across all products and screens.
Dev teams were developing similar components for individual products, wasting development effort and UI performance was suffering.
As the company was scaling up both in the number of product offering but also in personnel we needed one source of truth, library of component design, documentation and frontend code.
Evolving Components
Each component was developed gradually, embedded into specific product roadmaps, components evolved over time as the products that are consuming them matured.
Shared Services:
We created shared services that hold cross product workflows that all products were using, creating a consistent experience for a user that works with the platform.
Shared services included dashboards, data discovery, search, notifications, action center, configuration, help and more.
